Game Psychology of 8 Ball
The most important stroke in the game is the break. It needs to be strong enough to scatter the balls, potting at least one and leaving the cue ball in a central table position.

One off the Break

From this position you must decide whether to pot a ball, pot out or play a safety shot, depending on where your balls are situated in comaprison to your opponents.

You must decide between one of two things ...

  • Your opponent's ball are in better position than yours
  • Your balls are in a better position than your opponents

Break and Miss

Again, from this position you must decide whether to pot a ball, pot out or play a safety shot, depending on where your balls are situated in comaprison to your opponents.

Your strategy should be the same for every shot you make.
