The Grip
The worst mistake you can make is to hold the cue too tightly. The cue must do the work, you only apply the energy required to make the shot.

Tense muscles are not "free flowing". You need to relax and use the momentum of the cue to do the work.

The correct cue action is not a "jab" [cue recoil] at the ball, where the cue returns at all. Your shot should be a "follow through" that will cause the cue tip to impact the cue ball for a longer period of time making your shot more accurate.
